ScreedPro-engineered products selected for quality, strength and hydronic heating applications
Hydronic screeding requires greater precision than standard floor screeding. The heating pipes need to be fully surrounded by screed with minimal air voids, while maintaining the required cover depth and protecting the pipe layout underneath.
We don’t rely on a one-size-fits-all sand-cement approach. Our partnership with ScreedPro gives us access to engineered screed materials suited to hydronic heating. We assess the subfloor, confirm insulation and pipe placement, check that the heating system has been pressure-tested, then apply the selected screed by pump or hand.
Our highly experienced team understands how preparation, application and curing affect the finished floor. We service residential, commercial and industrial projects throughout Melbourne and surrounding areas.

From assessment and product selection through to installation, we keep the process organised
20 years of flooring preparation experience backed by specialist knowledge of ScreedPro systems
Different screed systems and installation methods can be considered for hydronic heating. The appropriate approach depends on the available floor height, pipe layout, finished flooring and project requirements.
ScreedPro-engineered products selected for quality, strength and hydronic heating applications
Through our ScreedPro partnership, we can select engineered screed systems according to the requirements of the heating installation, substrate and finished floor. While S30 and K45 are suitable for underfloor heating, S20 is designed for other flooring applications and isn't specified for use with underfloor heating.
A high-strength engineered screed designed primarily for bonded applications and thinner installations
A higher-strength engineered system suitable for bonded and unbonded applications, including thicker installations and underfloor heating
A high-strength engineered screed suited to demanding commercial applications and underfloor heating, with compatibility across a broad range of floor coverings
So, what type of hydronic screed should you use? It depends on the subfloor, available floor height, heating system, finished flooring and project timeline. Thicker screed systems can work well where floor depth is available, while lower-build-up systems are often preferred where floor height is limited and consistent pipe encapsulation is important.
Safe Surface Preparation assesses all factors before installation and matches the screed system to the project. Speak with our team today for a free quote.

Hydronic floor screed is the layer installed over underfloor heating pipes. It surrounds and protects the pipes while creating a flat, even surface for the finished floor. It also helps transfer heat from the pipework into the room.
For liquid screed hydronic heating applications, pump-applied liquid screed is often preferred because it flows around and beneath the pipes, helping provide consistent encapsulation and reduce air voids. The appropriate system still depends on the project requirements.
The required thickness depends on the screed system and installation method. ScreedPro’s technical guidance specifies a minimum 25 mm of screed cover over water heating pipes for heated screed applications.
The timing depends on the screed system, thickness, site conditions and heating manufacturer’s requirements. Some engineered screed systems allow gradual heating commissioning once the manufacturer’s specified conditions have been met. Heating should be introduced gradually according to the specified commissioning procedure rather than switched on at full temperature.
Yes. Low-profile screed systems can be considered for retrofit hydronic installations where floor height and substrate conditions allow. A site assessment is important before selecting the system.
Safe Surface Preparation works with ScreedPro-engineered products including ScreedMax Pro S20, S30 and K45. Our team selects the appropriate system based on the installation method, substrate, required thickness, heating system and finished flooring.
Temperature and humidity can affect drying and curing. The selected product, application conditions and curing process all need to be considered to achieve a reliable result.
